Xbox Game Studios wants to acquire a Japanese team

In an interview granted to GamesIndustry International, the executive vice president of gaming at Microsoft Phil Spencer talked about the possibility of new acquisitions.

Xbox Game Studios saw Double Fine Productions and a label dedicated only to Age of Empires join the team first party, but apparently the costs would not be over yet.

Spencer indeed explained that “it would be nice if we found an Asian studio, in particular a Japanese studio, to add to our studios”.

“I liked it when we had a first party capacity in Japan. We have a small team there but I think we can do more”.

Xbox Game Studios currently has fifteen studios, whose titles come and will be released on Xbox One Pass for PC Windows 10 and Xbox One on day one.

In the past, Microsoft had second party relationships in Japan, particularly at the dawn of the Xbox 360 era with Hironobu Sakaguchi’s creator of Final Fantasy, Mistwalker, for Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon.
