A battle royale closes to be “redeveloped”, improved and launched again

A curious case, that of Deathverse: Let it Die. In fact, launched last year, the game will be closed in a few months, but not forever: the developers’ idea is to start working on it again with the lights off, to then launch it again when it is duly improved.

A certainly brave move, which in the past we had seen done by Amazon with its Crucible – launched, brought back to the development stage and finally, unfortunately, canceled altogether. Let’s hope, of course, that the Deathverse doesn’t follow the whole parable.

The announcement comes from GungHo Online Entertainment through the official website of the Deathverse universe, where we read:

“There is no doubt that, since the launch of our game, we have had to face some difficulties, especially in terms of matchmaking and lag. We sincerely apologize for these issues, which may have caused inconvenience to our players.

While we’ve tried numerous solutions, with mixed success, we still haven’t been able to fix the underlying issues. Therefore, our development and operations teams have made the decision to temporarily suspend services, while we re-develop Deathverse: Let it Die“.

The announcement, decidedly surprising, was certainly not easy even for the development team, which speaks of a «difficult decision to make», but which should lead to the best possible scenario, for Let it Die.

“We think that re-launching the game with significant improvements will allow it to be enjoyed by a wider audience than our current players”add the developers.

«Considering how long it takes to develop a video game – and that there is a limit to the number of games one can make, in a lifetime – it is impossible to say at this point whether this will be the right decision. But we love this game and are proud of what we have achieved as a team. For this reason, we think it is the best possible decision at the moment“.

The game will be put officially offline on July 18, 2023, less than a year after the official launch last October on PC, PS4 and PS5. We’ll see how this procedure will allow the development team to improve the difficulties that our Nicolò Bicego also highlighted during the review, which could become just a memory in the future re-release, if all goes the right way.
