Logitech G and Tencent Games are collaborating to bring a portable console for cloud gaming to market by end of the year.
Of course, with Nintendo Switch (which you can find on Amazon) fans of handheld platforms certainly have nothing to complain about.
That, plus PlayStation fans – orphans of a handheld console for decades – will find relief in the new DualSense-inspired iPhone controller.
Now, however, as also reported by The Gamer , The two companies they are combining their hardware and software skills “so that gamers can play AAA titles when they are away from their console or PC”.
Logitech has made the announcement on its official page: the new console will use numerous cloud gaming services and the companies that will take care of its implementation are already working with the Xbox Cloud Gaming and NVIDIA GeForce teams NOW .
«As a person who grew up playing video games, the idea of being able to stream and play AAA titles almost everywhere is very exciting and we can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on », said Ujesh Desai, general manager of Logitech G.
Over the past decade, it has historically been difficult for companies to enter the portable console market: while Switch reigns supreme, Valve’s Steam Deck is attempting to lure audiences with the promise of a portable PC relatively cheap.
Sony has apparently ditched its range of handheld consoles, while Xbox has never launched a full-fledged handheld console, although it is striving to make its games available on many devices thanks to cloud-based streaming, a technology and an experience that Logitech and Tencent are willing to exploit to push their console on the market.
It is also true that there is so much nostalgia for laptops that some have imagined what such a console could be today in the era of Switch and PS5.
