The Xbox Games Showcase 2024 gave us a lot more information about the future of Microsoft’s gaming division, including the arrival of new versions of the Xbox Series X|S. According to Mike Ybarra, however, this news in particular is counterproductive.\r\nYbarra had supported the choices of Xbox and Phil Spencer several times, on various occasions, but this time he has a slight criticism for Microsoft’s gaming division.\r \nIn fact, there are three new consoles that will accompany Xbox’s current hardware offering.\r\nPrecisely, during the event a few hours ago, Microsoft showed:\r\n\r\nXbox Series Robot White color, 1TB, digital only. This console therefore does not have a reader for physical discs\r\nXbox Series S in Robot White color 1 TB, only digital as always in the case of the little one from the Xbox\r\nXbox Series for physical games. It will therefore be the new flagship model, with a satin design and the controller which on the back of the body recalls the green color of the upper lattice of Series not indifferent. The ex-president of Blizzard expressed his comment on the matter in an exchange on \nPhil Spencer has in fact declared that many more Xbox games will arrive on various platforms, and this is a strategy that Ybarra supports: «Given the current size of Microsoft Gaming, it is not sustainable not to embrace all platforms.»\r\nAnd if the multiplatform is the right way, consoles are not:\r\n\r\n«I don’t have inside information, but I wouldn’t deal directly with hardware in the future. There are tons of third-party hardware companies making PC handhelds – embrace them and focus on making great games while making Windows viable on these devices. Microsoft is good at this. They could make their own PC device, but IMHO it will be expensive and low volume. Focus your entire organization on games and get subscription across PS and other devices – this excitement aside is what large-scale gamers will eventually embrace.”\r\n\r\nIn the meantime you can also catch up on all ads of the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 in our news.
