Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S also increase in price in Sweden

The video game market continues in its own way to make changes, after the last two-three years that are not exactly “standard” that the inhabitants of this planet have found themselves living. If, between scalpers, pandemics and the semiconductor crisis, we have only recently begun to find the new consoles in stores a little more normally, it is also true that in some cases the platform holders have decided to make price increases for their devices. Right now, it also applies to Microsoft, which has decided to change the price of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in Sweden.

The news comes from GamingDeputy (thanks VGC), from which we learn that the prices for the Swedish market have changed as follows:

  • Xbox Series X: from 5,695 crowns to 6,195 crowns (from around 515 to around 560 euros at current exchange rates);
  • Xbox Series S: from 3,595 crowns to 3,894 crowns (from about 325 to about 352 euros).
Microsoft some time ago said it had no plans to raise the prices of its consoles

At the moment, local media report, retailers have already updated the price of Series X, while it is still possible to find some examples of Series S at the old price.

Recently, the Redmond house had decided to increase the price of its consoles, with a very similar to the Swedish one, even on the Japan market – one where it doesn’t have an easy life, against competitors who play at home and offer genres very close to the tastes of the demanding Japanese public.

Previously, Microsoft had stated that the company had no plans for price increases for its Xboxes, in response to the increase in the cost of the PS5 – which rose by 50 euros in our area – which was defined by executive Phil Spencer “an unfair move”. However, the Redmond giant had instead decided to operate on the price front of the list games, perhaps also thanks to the fact that many of its users no longer buy them individuallye (numbers in hand), but instead rely on Game Pass.

We will see if in the future the price increase will also be applied to other markets, depending on the fluctuation of currencies. For the moment, as we can see, Microsoft has moved on the yen and the Swedish krona. In our area, on retailers such as Amazon, the Xbox Series X is priced at 499 euros in the list price (or a little more, in a bundle), while the Xbox Series S is often on sale for less than the 299 euros normally expected.

The hope, of course, is that things won’t change.
