While there is still debate as to whether this or that Bethesda game will be exclusive to the platforms served by Microsoft , an interesting answer comes from the Fallout development team 76 .
The online game has just unveiled its roadmap for 2021, after a year of introducing a major expansion with a historic faction in the series.
However, comment from Bethesda Games Studios team Jeff Gardiner during a recent AMA on Reddit (via The Gamer ) attracted the attention of fans.
A user asked him how the transition for the Fallout 76 development team went after ZeniMax Media changed their shirts, and his response was:
«The transition to working with Microsoft has been very smooth and we are excited to be partnering with them on all things Fallout in the future ».
While some have pointed out that this is a standard PR phrase, others have pointed out that the answer focused on the entire Fallout universe when the question was instead focused on the online spin-off.
Fallout is one of the series that has a cross-platform “legacy”, to use the words of Phil Spencer in the recent panel discussion.
For this reason, it is believed that a new chapter in the franchise is set to be released on PlayStation and not just on Xbox.
However, this kind of phrase only underlines that these plans are still being worked out and that you never know for the future.
Bethesda Game Studios is for now focused on Starfield , possibly coming in 2021, and The Elder Scrolls VI , so the timing for a new Fallout would be every way very long.
