Microsoft has never hidden its intention of arriving on each single screen where the players are present, and this evidently also includes those included within the virtual reality viewers.
In fact, it seems that the Redmond house is preparing for a decidedly interesting new collaboration: after the portable console produced by Asus, now for Microsoft the time has come to go to compete in the virtual reality sector.
As reported by Pure by Xbox, the first rumors emerged online on the probable launch of Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition, an exclusive edition of the viewer already available on the market (and that you find on Amazon) but branded Xbox.
According to the first sources, the intention would be to create a real Shadowdrop, with an official announcement and launch both scheduled for next June 24.
As alleged confirmation of these rumors, a photo of the official box of this new viewer for virtual reality has already emerged online, which you can view at the following address.
If these voices were to find confirmation, it would mean that Xbox has decided to launch the gauntlet to PlayStation VR2, even if in truth Sony has already gave up the grip for some time, lowering the price of his viewers and without having really invested in his support.
The cost of the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition should settle on $ 399, perfectly in line with the current price of the PlayStation VR2: in addition to the virtual reality viewer, a wireless controller should include a elite strap and 3 months of subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
It will be interesting to understand if this viewer will also be made compatible on the Xbox consoles or if the intention is only to create a branded product for the PC market: we will know more only if and when the official announcement arrives.
For the moment, I can only invite you to take everything with the necessary precautions of the case: we will keep you updated as soon as any clarifications arrive on the matter.
