Like every year, the Call of Duty series will return in a new official chapter of the franchise in 2021. Apparently, the so-called Call of Duty 2021 would now have a first “unofficial” title leaked online in these hours.
Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard would in fact be the name of the new episode developed by the Sledgehammer Games team. The source ModernWarzone (via GR +) states that this is in any case a working title and that the game coming out at the end of the year could have a completely different name.
The word “Vanguard” in any case refers to the Second World War , a classic scenario abandoned during the various episodes of the franchise in favor of war conflicts set in the present day. The HMS Vanguard is in fact the name of a famous warship belonging to the British Royal Navy, launched in 1944 but officially entered into service after the conflict is now over.

Sledgehammer was also the lead developer of the Call of Duty: WWII released in 2017, so the choice of that particular historical context may not be a coincidence
We also remember that a few weeks ago another leak suggested that the new chapter of the Call of Duty series would take place during World War II, although ModernWarzone reports that some of the game’s cutscenes will be set in the 1950s, i.e. immediately. after the period in which the great war took place.
Neither Activision nor Sledgehammer have currently commented on the indiscretion. In any case, remember that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would already be in development, so much so that it could be a remake / reboot of the legendary Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
