The world of indie video games is preparing for a new appointment with the Nintendo revelations, but this time the developments behind the scenes are generating more expectations and disappointments than usual.
The YouTuber SwitchForce, who had correctly foreseen the arrival of an Indie World Showcase for this week, felt compelled to cool the enthusiasm of the most passionate community of the moment: the one waiting for Hollow Knight: Silksong.
His forecast proved exactly when Nintendo actually announced the presentation, confirming a strategy in three phases that the Content Creator had anticipated. SwitchForce had theorized a gradual approach by Nintendo, who started from the showcase partner last week.
Despite the initial skepticism due to a not always impeccable track record, the forecast of the India World has materialized, giving new credibility to its sources. However, this predictive success pushed him to intervene to immediately cool the growing enthusiasm.
The Silksong community had already experienced a scorching disappointment during the showcase partner, when the long -awaited following of Hollow Knight had not materialized. With the announcement of the India World and the prospect of a possible demo at the end of the month game, the fans had left again by the Hype, synthesizing their mood with an eloquent “ah shit, we like”.
But the YouTuber who had fueled the hopes hastened to dampen them. In a video published after the official announcement, SwitchForce said in no uncertain terms: “Hollow Knight: Silksong will not be shown on Thursday, I tell you immediately”. An intervention that sounds like a preventive attempt to contain the inevitable disappointment.
Even PH Brazil, another insider known for forecasts with a swinging value, joined the chorus of the manifesters of enthusiasm. On Twitter he wrote, translating from the Portuguese: “If you are only interested in Silksong, you might as well do not even open the stream”. A statement that had the effect of a cold shower for those who hoped in a twist.
The same SwitchForce then clarified that the alleged “third phase” of the Nintendo strategy will not arrive next week, but at a not specified future moment. A vague formulation that could refer to the traditional Nintendo Direct in September, leaving ample space for interpretation.
In the meantime, speculations move towards more plausible alternatives. Hades II emerges as one of the most likely candidates for the Indie World Showcase, thanks to a mysterious update that appeared last week. The sequel to the Roguelike of Supergiant Games would however represent an relevant addition to the Indie catalog of the platform.
The situation perfectly reflects the delicate balance between more or less reliable leaks and the management of expectations within the videogame community. While Silksong’s fans continue their long wait, the insiders are in the paradoxical position of having to at the same time food and containing the hopes of the most devoted audience.
Will Silksong be present at the “new” Nintendo Direct?
