Valorant is finally ready to conquer consoles

After a few years since its launch on PC, where it received good feedback for its desire to be a highly tactical competitive shooter focused on perfectionism, Valorant is ready to make the big leap to consoles too.\r\nThe confirmation came directly from Riot Games during the Summer Game Fest in the last few hours, when it was revealed that players of PS5 and Xbox Series to make the most of the experience and ensure that it remains satisfactory on these platforms too: for this reason, from June 14th the game will face a closed beta (which will also involve Italian players), so that Valorant can adjust and optimize itself in progress of work before the final release.\r\nAs explained by the authors in an official note:\r\n\r\n«The gameplay of VALORANT has been adapted for Xbox and PS5, while maintaining the same level of rigor and competitiveness of the PC version, which remains the absolute priority for the expansion of this franchise. To maintain VALORANT’s renowned standard of competitive integrity, crossplay will not be available between PC and console.\r\nHowever, VALORANT players on PC, Xbox Series shared gameplay tied to your VALORANT account.\r\nPC and console players will receive all patches, balance updates, new agents, new maps, premium content and features at the same time, regardless of platform additional”.\r\n\r\nIn short, the console release will be treated with kid gloves and will not lag behind the PC release. Indeed, some features have been redesigned to encourage good gameplay on PS5 and Xbox.\r\n\n\n\n\r\nAs explained by Arnar Gylfason, production director of Valorant, in a note with which we were joined by Riot Games:\r\n\r\n«One of my favorite new features is the Focus mode that activates while shooting. To deliver the same experience as on PC, where shooting without a crosshair is the primary method and the crosshair is relegated to a secondary support, we have experimented with numerous controller adjustments and sensitivities.\r\nHowever, on console, shooting without a crosshair does not had the same effect, and players couldn’t take advantage of the same opportunities and level of expressiveness of PC gameplay. And this is where Concentration Mode comes in. Concentration is a new shooting mode that behaves like shooting without a scope, but with less sensitivity.\r\nThis way, players can shoot normally when they need to move the view/aim with some agility (e.g. . when they come out of corners or dodge utilities), using Concentration mode instead when they need precision (for headshots). Furthermore, this brings the shooting mechanics closer to the usual one of shooters on consoles, without losing the added value provided by the crosshairs on VALORANT”.\r\n\r\nThe arrival of Valorant on consoles will be very interesting to follow, because remember that we are talking about free-to-play. Considering that more and more publishers are trying the life of games as a service — let’s also think of PlayStation itself, which will soon launch Concord — the competition from an established title like that of Riot Games could be very, very difficult to overcome.
