The Gold River Project is a new indie RPG that mixes the Viking atmosphere and Valheim’s open-world survival with the adrenaline action and the breathtaking landscapes of the old Far Crys.
The signature Fairview Games Inc., a small independent study that has already made available a free demo on Steam (which you find here), perfect for those looking for something new to try in company or solo.
The game catapults you into a gigantic nature reserve in the north-western Pacific, where you will have to survive a ruthless experiment orchestrated by mysterious forces.
You are not alone: you are observed, manipulated and studied. You will have to collect resources, solve environmental puzzles, explore carefully and try to stay alive another day.
«Welcome to Gold River! A remote camping adventure that you can do alone or with friends. A charter seaplane will leave you on splendid lakes where you can do kayak, travel enchanting paths, camps and fall asleep counting the stars », reads the official description.
Aesthetically it is very reminiscent of The Forest, with realistic forests and a constant sense of tension. The experience seems to be designed for the co-op, but it works even if played alone.
There is still no official release date, but the demo already available offers a promising tasting of the mechanics and atmosphere.
For those who love the idea of exploring a wild world full of secrets and dangers with a group of friends, The Gold River Project could prove to be a nice surprise. It is worth keeping an eye on it and, if interested, add it to Steam’s Wishlist to stay updated.
