August 5th 2021 will be a day that motorcycling lovers will not easily forget: a few minutes ago, in fact, Valentino Rossi officially announced his retirement at the end of the season , which will end on Sunday 14 November with the last Grand Prix of the MotoGP , in Valencia.
The Doctor during his long career has won nine world titles and, to date, has won 115 Grands Prix. Active since 1996 in the 125cc, the champion from Pesaro has raced with Aprilia, Honda, Yamaha (where he is also currently located) and Ducati, both in official teams and in customer teams.
His career, which made him an icon of high-speed two-wheelers, has obviously not gone unnoticed in video games . As happens to the most prominent sportsmen in their disciplines, in fact, VR46 was also a great protagonist of the titles dedicated to its specialty, appearing both in an ordinary and in a more extraordinary way.
The most prominent is definitely Valentino Rossi – The Game , an officially licensed motorcycle title developed by Milestone and released in 2016, dedicated to the world championship season of the same year. Inside, the Doctor’s fans could find special content dedicated to the career of Valentino Rossi – including his raids in the world of rallying, to which the Doctor has devoted himself from time to time.
That’s not all: as you will remember, in fact, Valentino was also for a long time the soloist on the covers of the MotoGP series: he was present, for example, on the cover of MotoGP , in that of MotoGP 2 , of MotoGP 3 , of MotoGP 4 (together with the late Nicky Hayden). Valentino also returned to the cover in a variant of MotoGP 07 (in others only Hayden was present), while in MotoGP 10/11 he appeared behind Jorge Lorenzo (who retired last year).
That’s not all: given the longevity of his career, Rossi was still on the cover in MotoGP 13 , with Dani Pedrosa on Honda in pursuit, while in MotoGP 14 he was chasing the champion of this generation, Marc Marquez. After the game dedicated to him, released in 2016, the champion from Pesaro also found his place on the cover of MotoGP 17 , in the company of Jorge Lorenzo, and in MotoGP 18 , where Marquez and Andrea Dovizioso preceded.
There was glory again for Valentino also in MotoGP 20 , with the cover sheet with Marquez, the latest video game to boast the Doctor in his boxart.
