Ubisoft today has a question, after numerous flops: “Where are the players?”

It is by no means an easy period for Ubisoft: the publisher has had to deal with a very long series of titles that have failed to fully conquer the public, as well as having made highly questionable decisions for its development teams.\r\ A situation that seems to have exploded further after the flop of Star Wars Outlaws: what should have been one of the flagship titles, thanks to the power of the Star Wars brand, had sales significantly lower than expected and which sparked a very strong wake-up call alarm.\r\nIt is in fact no coincidence that Ubisoft has decided to postpone the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows precisely because of its poor results: the developers have admitted that they have only one chance to be able to make a proper launch and it takes as much time as possible.\r\nThat it doesn’t look easy within the company was also admitted in the last few hours by Marc-Alexis Côté, producer of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, who explains what needs to be done to regain the ground lost in recent years. \r\nDuring a Q&A session at the XDS24 conference, the manufacturer revealed that he had asked himself only two questions over the last two years (via Tech4Gamers):\r\n\r\n«Where are the players? What are they playing?”\r\n\r\nThe goal of the authors of Assassin’s Creed Shadows (which you can pre-order on Amazon) is to be able to capture the players’ interest, as well as recover the trust that they now seem to have lost in Ubisoft.\r\nAccording to Marc-Alexis Côté, Ubisoft must be able to find a way to involve players, but they will only really be able to do so after having identified the right trends.\r\nMoreover, according to the producer, it will be vitally important to continue to innovate the gaming industry: the key to winning the hearts of players, both for triple-A and indie titles, is to be able to propose original ideas.\r\nIt’s difficult to blame the producer of Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Ubisoft must do everything possible to improve its situation, listening to the real needs of the players to return to being the publisher that, once upon a time, was truly taken as one of the points of reference in the industry.\r\nHoping not to see moves like this again dismantling of The Lost Crown team, we can only hope that Shadows amazes everyone and that Ubisoft shines like it once did. But only time will tell if this will really be the case.
