The event of The Game Awards 2024 certainly has its problems and critical issues, but if nothing else it sells video games like few other things in the world.\r\nFinal Fantasy VII Rebirth is well aware of this (you can find it on Amazon), which marked a +268% in sales since it entered the nominations of the best games of 2024.\r\nAs journalist Christopher Dring of Games Industry reports on social networks, all the GOTY candidates received a considerable boost of sales after the publication of the nominations.\r\nGiven that, naturally, in this period of the year sales physiologically increase because we are approaching the Christmas holidays, the increase is notable if we look at the timing in which the numbers increased.\ r\nEspecially in a year of general contraction in sales of the video game market, these surges have a certain effect.\r\nSales of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth increased by 268% on a weekly basis across Europe, Astro Bot jumped by 61%, Elden Ring thanks to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC by 38%, Metaphor by 172% and Silent Hill 2 Remake by 43%.\r\nAmong the numbers worth mentioning there is also that of Balatro, surprise surprisingly, it is an independent and also quite niche video game, which generated $727 thousand in a week after the nomination at The Game Awards.\r\nGenerally, this it’s a really curious year even looking at the general rankings. Astro Bot, which was a surprise in itself, is currently the best gaming product of 2024 according to the ratings emerging from global review aggregators.\r\nPlayStation, for its part, already has something to celebrate looking at the names that came out of the nominations, which mostly come from its stables.\r\nSpeaking of nominations, at this address you will find all the names of the titles that will compete for the title on the night of The Game Awards 2024.
