It was December 2019 when the first season of The Witcher made its absolute debut on Netflix , based on the same novels and short stories as Andrzej Sapkowski from which the video game series of the same name was also born. Despite the stumbling blocks due to COVID in 2020, which made filming very difficult – complete with injuries to protagonist Henry Cavill – fans are now waiting for season 2 of The Witcher , which has not still a precise release date, but which is taking shape in an increasingly concrete way.
This was proved by Netflix itself, which shared the first page of the script of the new season, winks at those who have read Sapkowski’s volumes.

As you can see, in fact, the episode will open with the voiceover of Geralt, while the direction will show a merchant, with his wife and daughter, grappling with a disturbing moment of silence and solitude.
If you have read The Guardian of the Innocents , the call is clearly to A Bit of Truth , the third chapter of volume 1 of the witcher saga, where Geralt will have a dealing with a story in the style of Beauty and the Beast , dealing with the curse of Nivellen. This also confirms that as expected the second season will not limit itself to telling the events from volume 3, The Blood of the Elves , but will continue to stage the tales of Sapkowski’s first two volumes, The Guardian of the Innocents and The Sword of Destiny .
The Witcher is inspired by the works of Sapkowski (and not the video game) and is signed by showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich . His cast includes Henry Cavill as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as the young Ciri.
While we’re waiting to find out when the second season of The Witcher opens, have you already seen the disturbing logo of the animated film dedicated to Vesemir ?
If you want to follow Geralt in his latest gaming adventure, you can’t help but play the excellent The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt .
