CD Projekt Red could solve stuttering problems in Unreal Engine 5 games with The Witcher 4, modifying some aspects of the graphics engine.\r\nThe Polish studio discussed the issue during a presentation at Unreal Fest Prague, showing awareness of the critical issues ( via Wccftech).\r\nMoreover, considering that the release date of the successor to the acclaimed The Witcher 3 (which you can find on Amazon) could be quite far away (even exceeding the current generation), that it is already being talked about now is a good thing.\r\nDigital Foundry experts have in fact analyzed the situation in response to a question from a fan.\r\nCDPR has highlighted how frame times worsen when moving in the game world, especially in large environments with many interactive elements.\r\nTo solve these problems, it will be necessary to change the approach to streaming and other technical aspects in Unreal Engine 5.\r\nHowever, the solutions adopted by CDPR for The Witcher 4 may not immediately benefit all games using the same engine.\r\nSome improvements may be specific to the title, while others will take time to implement in the engine itself, despite the partnership between the Polish studio and Epic Games.\ r\nAn example is the well-known issue with the Lumen software in games like Fortnite, which prevents it from activating on AMD APUs like those in Steam Deck and ROG Ally. This critical issue has not yet been officially resolved.\r\nIn short, the use of Unreal Engine 5 for The Witcher 4 represents an important technical challenge for CD Projekt Red.\r\nThe studio’s ability to optimize the engine and solve problems of stuttering could have a significant impact not only on the game, but potentially on the entire ecosystem of titles based on UE5.\r\nThe new chapter of the saga, which apparently will not have Geralt of Rivia as the protagonist, has finally entered full production phase. \r\nIn the meantime, have you ever wondered how much you know The Witcher?
