Even a mammoth game experience like The Witcher 3 can still surprise after more than a thousand hours spent alongside Geralt. The latest discovery, relaunched by the Reddit community, concerns an NPC that almost all the players gave for passed off … and which can instead be saved with the right attention.
During the “A Matter of Life and Death” mission, Geralt accompanies Triss in one of the best -known sequences set in Novigrad. Here he meets Moritz Diefenthel, a haughty magician who refuses the help of the Witcher. In most games, Moritz’s fate seems to be marked: it is found prisoner and wrapped in flames, without the possibility of intervention.

Still, it is possible to completely change things. With a perfect timing and the use of the Aard sign, you can turn off the flames and free it, transforming what is usually a fixed scene in a full -blown saving moment.
It is such a specific detail that many fans, despite having completed more runs, had never noticed the possibility. The news immediately generated curiosity: several players admitted that they want to start the adventure again to see how this gesture can affect the rest of the plot.
And in fact the rescue of Moritz opens unpublished scenarios. The magician can be met again during Triss’s speech in the “Now or Never” mission, where he appears among the wizards on the run towards Kovir. Subsequently, it can be crossed at the Kingfisher Inn in Novigrad, alive and well, to testify that Geralt’s actions have had a real impact on the game world.
It is a discovery that reiterates how much The Witcher 3 has been designed to reward curiosity and exploration. In such a rich universe, even an apparently marginal choice can change the course of events, adding further depth to an RPG that continues to write its legend.
