In the panorama of contemporary horror video games, few titles manage to transform the ordinary into an extraordinary as Fai (S), the new action-horror that will arrive on PlayStation 5 on 11 November. The protagonist Luca finds himself trapped among the ruins of Sanzu City after an invasion of extra-dimensional demons, but the real innovation of the game lies in the way he faces the fight: forget traditional arsenals and get ready to wrap kitchen knives, electric guitars and even sunglasses like lethal weapons. This creative approach to the Combat System promises to redefine the very concept of survival in a post-apocalyptic world.
The possessor (S) combat system is based on a two -level mechanics that transforms each domestic object into a death tool. Luca can use normal weapons at any time to hit enemies, while special weapons require the use of charges that are obtained by successfully affecting the basic weapons. This dynamic creates a combat flow in which each blow scored not only damages the enemy, but also accumulates resources for more devastating attacks.
At the beginning of the adventure, when Luca awakens in the rubble of Sanzu, the only available equipment consists of a couple of kitchen knives. However, exploring the destroyed city, the girl will begin to collect increasingly bizarre objects that Rhem, her demonic ally, will be able to transform into destruction tools.
Among the most interesting weapons that Luca can recover the electric guitar stands out, found on the university campus. This tool can be loaded to perform a powerful attack on the ground that generates shock waves against enemies. Despite being slow, the guitar compensates with a devastating power, however requesting a perfect timing to be used effectively.
In the residential complex of Sunken City, however, Luca can get his hands on a hockey club, ideal for quick and lethal attacks at close range. This weapon excels in the aerial combinations against flying enemies or launched into the air, offering completely different tactical possibilities.
The system allows you to combine a main weapon with three special weapons, assigned to different directional commands. The computer mouse, for example, is perfect for launching enemies in the air, where they can be affected with the aerial combo of the hockey club. The cell phone, on the other hand, electrifies the surrounding enemies, stuning them long enough to allow a devastating attack with the guitar.
To recover these improvised weapons, Luca will have to explore every corner of Sanzu City, a metropolis now unrecognizable compared to the family places of his childhood. The Sanzooquarium, the local aquarium that once visited during the school trips, is now populated by marine creatures and demonic penguins with something suspicious to sell.
Between crushed tanks and flooded corridors, Luca will have to fight to reach the last human being hidden in the aquarium. What kind of pact did this man have with demons to stay alive? The answer to this question could prove to be crucial for the survival of the protagonist.
The campus of its old high school has also become a labyrinth of horrors, with classrooms and libraries infested with books, screen, vases and lamps owned. Here the Professor Foss, the former teacher of Luca, is hidden, who seems to want to help her but appears sick and could keep a secret in the school basement. Also in this case, getting answers could make the difference between life and death.
