Capcom recently confessed, almost with resignation, that Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess failed to take off in terms of sales, despite enthusiastic reviews and good public reception.\r\nThe home of Resident Evil (series also found on Amazon) has in fact achieved several successes in recent years, but apparently not all that glitters is gold.\r\nKunitsu-Gami was a game that had all the cards in store rule, at least on paper: inspired by Japanese folklore, fascinating for its atmosphere and boasting a Metascore of 80 and a “Very Positive” rating on Steam. \r\nIn our review we explained to you that «Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a rare work, for a modern market dominated by clones and the flattening of creativity.»\r\nBut then, what happened crooked? As reported by Automaton, Capcom has hinted that the marketing has failed this time.\r\nA lackluster strategy, incapable of generating the pre-launch interest that often makes the difference between a resounding success and a title that goes unnoticed .\r\nBut it’s not just a matter of advertising campaign: today’s audience is used to an overabundance of titles, and bringing out a game, especially one that doesn’t belong to an established franchise, has become a challenge titanic.\r\nPerhaps, the real question is this: is there still room for experimentation, or is the industry becoming a carnival of sequels and remasters?\r\nWhile Path of the Goddess struggled, its “old glories ” they did not betray. Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster (reviewed here) and Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection have remained faithful to expectations, confirming that the roots, at least in this sector, seem to resist more than the new branches.\r\nAnd it is precisely on these roots that the company continues to focus to achieve its end-of-year objectives. \r\nConfidence, they say, is not lacking, and perhaps it is not even completely misplaced, considering the imminent arrival of Monster Hunter Wilds, a title that alone could straighten out the sales trend at Capcom (and we tried it).
The new Capcom IP has disappointed expectations
