Sony announced the arrival today of an upgrade for PS5 intended to improve the performance of The Last of Us Part II .
The only thing you will need to access the update will be an Internet connection to download it, while a PlayStation Plus subscription will not be required – is completely free.
An enhancement of the product packaged by Neil Druckmann’s team has been in the air for a long time, even if this track seems to have faded.
Naughty Dog’s plans should have remained a multiplayer mode, which should act as a standalone game based on the acclaimed PlayStation action adventure.
The update is provided free of charge as part of patch 1.08, which will be released later today for all owners of The Last of Us Part II .
Once the patch is installed, players will be able to choose between a 30fps mode – the existing one – and a 60fps mode specially designed to take advantage of the computing power of PS5.
Once patch 1.08 is installed, you will find a simple option in the settings to choose a target for the frame rate of 30 or 60 fps.
«This will allow you to choose your preferred frame rate in addition to the rest of the improvements that are part of the backward compatibility with PS4 games» , reads a post on Arne Meyer’s (Naughty Dog) PlayStation Blog .
These improvements are already part of the enjoyment of The Last of Us Part II on PS5 and are not delivered today with the new free update, but for the record they include:
- higher resolution
- faster loading times
Meyer explained that “the team has been digging into the PS5 hardware and the possibilities it has unlocked since last year’s launch, and we’re excited about what the future holds.”
«This patch is only the first step of the work on PS5. We will let you know when we have more news to share », his post closes.
As mentioned, in the plans of the Santa Monica software house there would be a separate multiplayer of TLOU 2 but also, it seems, a remake of the original The Last of Us for PS5.
This makeover has already got a lot of talk in the fanbase, mainly because it would be approved (as well) at the expense of Days Gone 2.
According to rumors, the remake – unlike this first patch of Part II – should take full advantage of the power of PS5.
