During an interview with Buzzfeed, the creative director Neil Druckmann revealed that in the Last of Us Part II the protagonist Ellie will have a partner.
The partner in question was not shown obviously in the E3 2018 demo but there will be in full play, keeping intact a cornerstone of the original (in which Ellie was the shoulder) and Naughty Dog brand productions.
“Well, Ellie was an NPC, but she’s the main character in this story, so the player will control Ellie,” Druckmann explained.
“It’s sure that with the games we’ve done in the past, there will be some NPCs with you in this story, although we did not show it in this demo.”
At E3, the Californian software house had missed the possibility of other playable characters in the second installment of the series and all leaves presage a change between Joel and Ellie just like in the progenitor.
With Joel not yet unveiled, however, we are only in the hypothesis field.
