The launch of The Last of Us Part I has made the public discuss – and not a little – on its actual need, but Naughty Dog he did not want to give up the opportunity to further improve his masterpiece, modifying and adding some interesting elements.
The PS5 remake of Ellie and Joel’s first adventure (which you can find on Amazon) has in fact been defined by the developers as a real new game: for this reason, fans are having fun in these hours at discover all the differences between the next-gen edition and the original chapters.
After having spotted a new mysterious character – probably inserted to facilitate the connection to The Last of Us Part II – and after admiring how Tess has changed, fans have in fact reported a nice “deadly” easter egg .
As reported by Game Rant , some users have indeed discovered that one of the scenes from Part I included a poster dedicated to Mortal Kombat 2 , one of the most iconic and beloved fighting games ever.
Its inclusion would not be random at all, but it would represent a hidden reference to the time spent during the adventure: the first The Last of Us is in fact set in 2033 , while Mortal Kombat 2 was released in the now distant 1993 .
The inclusion of this poster would therefore not be a simple and fun homage to one of the most beloved brutal classics , but also a subtle reference to the fact that in that world 40 years have now passed since those carefree days.
As you can see in the following comparison , this is an addition included only in the remake on PS5: the original versions did not in fact include the poster visible behind Ellie.

Of course this is not a change that changes the lore of the game or a particularly revolutionary novelty, but it is certainly curious to see that the developers have decided to return to work on every single scene, finding the time to even add little easter eggs that will bring a smile to the most attentive fans.
Furthermore, this is further proof of the care that Naughty Dog has decided to put into every single aspect of The Last of Us Part I , also deciding to include a giveaway really moving.
