During the night of The Game Awards, Glen Schofield – ex Sledgehammer – showed the new trailer of the promising The Callisto Protocol , a sci-fi title with horror shades from the authors of Dead Space .
The game will indeed be set on Jupiter in hundreds of years and will offer a single-player experience that promises to be truly terrifying (in a good way, of course).
Coming to PS5, the game could in any case have a connection to another title that is decidedly distant both as a genre of belonging as a general aesthetic style: The Callisto Protocol is in fact set in the universe of PUBG , the well-known battle royale predecessor of Fortnite .
This, after all, had been aired in the past, as Schofield had previously spoken clearly of an original narrative experience set in the PUBG universe . Apparently, despite the fact that this was not reiterated during the TGA, the Striking Distance Studios team is a subsidiary of Kraton (owner of Bluehole and PUBG Studio), who therefore worked on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds .
The adventure is in any case set in the year 2320, which is why nothing prevents the game from actually being set in the PUBG universe and its vast lore. We just have to wait for further confirmation from the development team, perhaps finally seeing the game in motion.
The Callisto Protocol does not yet have a release date, although it should see the light on PC, Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5 in the course of 2022 .
