It’s been a pretty curious year for the gaming world so far – again thanks to the backlash of the pandemic and the semiconductor crisis. In November the new consoles will be two years old and many players have not yet managed to get their hands on them.
Add to this the fact that at the beginning of the year we had an avalanche of releases, which then slowed down and then concentrated again persistently between September and October, as you can see in the release calendar. To start taking stock, we have decided to put together the ranking of the best PS5 games of 2022 up to this point.
To propose it, we consulted the average rating in hundredths of the different games (only in PS5 version ) reported by the Metacritic aggregator, who allows you to get a pretty clear idea of the reception received by the various games from the critics. In this case, as we anticipated, we will only include games released in 2022 . We exclude expansions and DLCs instead.
The best PS5 games of 2022 (so far)
- Elden Ring – 96
- The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe – 89
- Horizon: Forbidden West – 88
- Gran Turismo 7 – 87
- Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collecting – 87
- Crusader Kings III: Console Edition – 85
- OlliOlli World – 84
- Stray – 83
- Two Point Campus – 83
- LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – 82
- This War of Mine: Final Cut – 82
- GTA V – 81
- FAR: Changing Tides – 81
- SIFU – 81
- Assetto Corsa Competizione – 80
As you can see, the first position of Elden Ring (you can find it on Amazon) could be set to go unchallenged for this year – barring surprises from other expected releases, such as God of War: Ragnarok . In fact, FromSoftware’s title counts on a rather marked distance from the second classified (the extended version of The Stanley Parable ) and from the third (the excellent Horizon: Forbidden West ), both below the 90 average.
It should also be noted that several very recent releases have entered the top 15 forcefully: you can see for example Stray (here our review) in eighth position and Two Point Campus (here the review) in ninth position, immediately below.
The interesting SIFU , arrived last month of February and that sits in fourteenth square.
It will be very interesting to see how this ranking changes when the end of the year comes. By calendar, we’ll have our hands on games like Ragnarok , The Last of Us – Part I , The Callisto Protocol and A Plague Tale: Requiem , just to name a few. We will see how they manage to fit into this ranking and how the final top 15 of 2022 will be calculated on the average vote.
