Each videogame year is made of stages, represented by the exits that either confirm the great expectations, or are revealed that no one would have expected. It is above all for this reason that every year we stole a ranking of the best games based on the average vote of Metacritic: a purely statistical but interesting way to retrace the titles that arrived during the year and the welcome had from the day-one.
Consulting the calendar of the outputs that awaits us, this 2025 should not make us miss anything and in these first months it has started to drop some important ace: what have been, for now, the best games of 2025?
We decided to try to respond by drawing up the ranking of the best games for media vote, according to the Metacritic aggregator. To formulate the top 10 that you find below we followed the following rules:
Only a quote per game, which reports the platform on which it has the highest average vote;
The average vote is in cents;
Expansions are excluded, only complete games are included;
Games are excluded with less than 15 total reviews.
So let’s take a look to see what the chart of this year tells us for now.
Last update: June 28, 2025

To impose themselves now as now are two small pearls, which say a lot – very much – to the neurotic AAA industry of the increasingly expensive and more expensive games: the role -playing game with round Obscur shifts: Expedition 33 is the one with the highest average vote ever, a project born from love for the classics of the genre and created by about twenty developers.
To press it is Blue Prince, who makes brilliant ideas his raison d’etre. To close the podium, about triumph of ideas, is Josef Fares with his split fiction which, after the Goty of It Takes Two in 2021, confirms himself to be a creator of great cooperative videogame experiences.
Platform side, in the top 20 we have:
10 games reviewed on PC;
4 games reviewed on PS5;
2 games reviewed on Switch;
4 games reviewed on Switch 2.
Now we just have to lay the controllers and wait for the next releases of this year, which as we know will be very dense and very interesting to follow together.
