The 2023 was a year that did not hold back at all, when it comes to big quality video game releases. And who knows if 2024 will be able to keep up, considering the ugly turmoil that is shaking the industry – which continues undeterred to try to clumsily sweep it under the carpet. In the meantime, you can get an idea by taking a look at the release calendar, where we have already noted quite a few of the releases expected for next year.\r\nBut how did this year’s releases go? From the first months, the important names were not long in coming: think of Hogwarts Legacy, which is also part of the category of those postponed from 2022, or of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (you can find it on Amazon) and Final Fantasy XVI . And, with this autumn, we have already seen the arrival of Starfield, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and several other ambitious proposals, interspersed with the final launch of the award-winning Baldur’s Gate III.\r\nIf we looked back, then, which would emerge as the best games of 2023?\r\nWe decided to try to answer by offering you a statistical data: we have drawn up the ranking of the best games by average rating, according to the aggregator Metacritic (different from that drawn up by the aggregator itself, which you can find here). In the top 30 that we have put together we have followed the following rules:\r\n\r\nOnly one mention per game, reported for the platform on which it received the highest vote;\r\nThe average vote is expressed in hundredths; \r\nExcludes expansions, we have only included full games;\r\nExcludes games with fewer than 15 reviews in total.\r\n\r\nThis article was originally published in late April and updated in July, August, October and November. Considering that the year’s releases are at the end of the line, this will be the definitive chart for 2023.\r\nSo let’s see what emerged in the complete ranking. \r\nBest games of 2023\r\n\r\nBaldur’s Gate III (PC) – 96\r\nThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch) – 96\r\nMetroid Prime Remastered (Switch) – 94\r\nAlan Wake 2 (Xbox Series r\nDiablo IV (Xbox Series Space (PS5) – 89\r\nThe Talos Principle 2 (PS5) – 89\r\nCocoon (PC) – 88\r\nSea of Stars (PC) – 87\r\nFinal Fantasy XVI (PS5) – 87\n r\nPikmin 4 (Switch) – 87\r\nTheatrhythm Final Bar Line (Switch) – 87\r\nHi-Fi Rush (Xbox Series (PS5) – 86\r\nParanormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo (Switch) – 85\r\nStar Wars Jedi: Survivor (PS5) – 85\r\nThe Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood (PC) – 85\r\nJusant ( PS5) – 85\r\nChants of Sennaar (PC) – 85\r\nA Space for the Unbound (Switch) – 85\r\nShadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew (PC) – 85\r\nForza Motorsport (Xbox Series) X) – 84 \ r \ nocopath traveler II (Switch) – 84 \ r \ n \ r \ nome you can see, the ranking is very dense with re -reports or remakes, but also some of the expected names have managed to enter the top 30.
