A serious bereavement has hit the world of video games: Ian Richardson died suddenly at the age of 53 .
In addition to holding significant roles in Ocean Europress, Gremlin and Rage during the 1990s, Richardson is known for being the Business Development Director for development studio Sumo Digital , also known for games such as LittleBigPlanet 3 .
Richardson is also known for raising a large amount of funds for the charity SpecialEffect , of which he was also an ambassador.
«Sumo has lost one of its brightest stars. Disappeared suddenly and too soon, our thoughts are directed to his family and to all those who loved him », reads the message of condolence issued by Sumo Digital.

Ian Richardson’s disappearance seems to be due to natural causes. He leaves his four children Steff, Britt, Miles and Isobel, as well as his beloved partner Nikki Thurston .
