Square Enix would be about to revive another great classic from the past

According to some rumors, it seems Square Enix is going to dust off one of the company’s most beloved classics, a much loved title from the PS1 and PSP era.

After the release of Tactics Ogre: Reborn (you can also find it on Amazon), a new strategic role-playing game for the Japanese giant will perhaps soon follow its footsteps.

Even Triangle Strategy (here you can find our review by Gianluca Arena) has also demonstrated how interest in the genre is still very strong

As also reported by Wccftech, the Final Fantasy Tactics is heavily involved in an as yet unidentified project, as revealed by Theatrhythm director Final Bar Line.

Indeed, something related to the Final Fantasy Tactics series could be in the pipeline, given that the development team would be involved in an unspecified project.

Speaking with French publication Finaland about the mobile game Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, Theatrhythm Final Bar Line producer Ichiro Hazama has revealed that the reason why many characters in Final Fantasy Tactics are not available in the game in question is that the team is currently involved in another project and does not have time to discuss the implementation of the characters in the smartphone title.

The reason why other Tactics characters were not included in Theatrhythm could therefore be linked to a project – perhaps a real remake – of the famous strategic title released on the first PlayStation, PSP and mobile.

Even if it is not yet known what project it is, it is therefore extremely likely that it is the remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics that has been rumored for some time, a game also included in the leak of GeForce NOW. We will keep you updated.

Last 2022 was certainly a year full of news for lovers of Square Enix SRPGs: in fact, we also remember The Diofield Chronicle, an interesting strategic RPG that drags us into an epic of empires and conquests.

But that’s not all: speaking of classics, two great JRPGs from the GameCube era are about to return to Nintendo Switch consoles, after almost 20 years.
