Today’s morning began with a very particular mystery, because the shooter Spec Ops: The Line had been removed from Steam without any reason or additional explanation. The shooter is a video game that is more unique than rare, and for this reason the news surprised everyone.\r\nApparently advertised only as a shooter like many others, Yager’s production surprised anyone who decided to give it a try chance with a surprising and well-crafted narrative, which questioned the boundary between video games and reality, all while exploring the sanity of the game’s protagonist captain.\r\nThe Steam page reports it as no longer available although, as always , if you have already purchased it, you can still download it at any time.\r\nAt first it seemed that the problem only affected Steam but, as PC Gamer reports, during the day Spec Ops: The Line disappeared from other stores.\r \nThe removal took place both in stores such as Fanatical and Gamesplanet, and at least for the moment it can be purchased on platforms such as GOG, Humble and Xbox.\r\nThe publisher 2K Games has not yet explained the reason for this phenomenon, but the the most accredited hypothesis is that there are problems relating to the rights to the soundtrack. As has also happened with other games in the past, if there are licensed songs whose usage rights expire, the video game can no longer be put on sale until the rights are renewed.\r\nSpec Ops: The Line in fact contains music licensed by artists including Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Martha and the Vandellas and Björk, and these tracks may have been the cause of the removal.\r\nThere is currently no confirmation, however, so much so that even developers such as director Cory Davis have no idea what happened: «It doesn’t make sense», said Davis, underlining how the themes of Spec Ops: The Line are extremely current due to the conflicts that are shaking the world, and wondering why it was removed from Steam.\r\nFortunately, Spec Ops: The Line can still be purchased in physical format, so much so that you can easily find it on various stores including Amazon.
