Sony didn’t believe in PlayStation: «It’s a struggle to get their name to appear»

PlayStation is synonymous with video games for many and was a machine capable of revolutionizing the market, but apparently Sony did not believe very much in its success.\r\nOn 3 December 1994 the first PlayStation was launched, exactly 30 years ago. Sony also reminded us of this a few hours ago with a video that made us feel nostalgic and/or old, but the Japanese company has never been so convinced, it seems.\r\nIn a recent interview given to Eurogamer, ex-manager Shawn Layden revealed some very interesting background on his career which is strongly linked to the birth of PlayStation.\r\nIn the long chat we also obviously talk about the process that led the console to be designed and launched on the market.\r\n”I remember giving a presentation at the beginning where they brought the prototype of the PlayStation to the president’s office and we could see what they were building,” Layden says of his work in 1987, as assistant to the founder of Sony, Akio Morita.\r\nAt the moment, as you know, Sony was present in the technological market but not in the world of video games, and this entry did not seem to be too convincing for the company, according to the testimony of Shawn Layden:\r\n\r\n«I remember in mid-’94, before launch, I was standing in a conference room playing Ridge Racer and thinking, \r\n\r\n
