Oblivion’s heart still beats, and thanks to a new Mod for Skyrim, it can go back to doing it right where we were less expected.
Echoes of Oblivion, created by the Modder Jobiwanuk, reports in the world of the fifth chapter of the Saga The Elder Scrolls (which you find on Amazon) some of the most iconic and characteristic elements of its 2006 predecessor: radial dialogues between NPC, random interactions and a world that finally seems to speak again on her own.
The strong point of this mod is the resumption of the dynamic conversation system. As happened in Oblivion, the PNGs no longer limit themselves to phrases of circumstance when the player approaches, but they begin to exchange opinions, news, impressions and even some jokes about time or on the inevitable mud crabs.
Everything happens randomly, making the interactions different and less predictable each time. The tone of the dialogues, moreover, can change according to the personality of the characters, and some voices also have a deliberately more “grumpy” imprint, just like in the old days in Cyrodiil.
The mod exploits the original Skyrim voices, so not all NGGs will speak, but most will be involved in these new dynamics. Jobiwanuk has also thought of the internal coherence of the world: characters of different races will talk about their own lands of origin, and even the location in which they will influence conversations.
In addition, there are also new guards with unpublished lines, some of which directly comment on the player’s statistics, further enriching the gaming experience.
As a icing on the cake, Echoes of Oblivion includes some NGG inspired by famous figures of Oblivion and a handful of hidden content for those who love to fully explore every detail.
It is clear from the outset that the project is a declaration of love against a chapter often remembered with affection for his “taller” and alive world.
Echoes of Oblivion (which you find free here) succeeds where many other mods have only tried: to make Skyrim’s world speak as he had never done before. For those who miss the most bizarre and spontaneous tone of Oblivion, this is a small revolution not to be missed.
Staying on the subject, Modder Alexpreit has created a new free expansion for Oblivion Remastered inspired by The Witcher: download it here.
Skyrim takes a “piece” of Oblivion, thanks to the fans
