The dark and mysterious world of Hollow Knight: Silksong (here you find our review) continues to surprise fans with secret secrets and Egg Egg. The latest discovery concerns an unexpected tribute to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, one of the most acclaimed independent games of this year, developed by Sandfall Interactive.
According to the players, to find the reference you must go to the west of the Via dei Vermi and enter the area accessible only after purchasing a simple key at the cost of 500 grains.
Once inside, Hornet will have to play his aghironda, the musical instrument that in certain places reveals spectral appearances or hidden texts. Right here, the notes of the A rustle make an enigmatic message appear concerning sleep and imprisonment, containing the phrase: “For Those Who as After”.
This expression is not accidental: it is in fact a phrase much loved by the fans of Expedition 33 (also in this case you find our review here) and a key step in the story of the game.
The assonance, combined with the musical context, suggests that it is a tribute deliberated by Team Cherry to the work of the French colleagues, rather than a simple coincidence.
The discovery was initially shared on Reddit, where there were doubts about authenticity. Subsequently, however, the sequence was also verified by those who had already completed the game, confirming its truthfulness.
It is not the first time that Silksong hides references to other developers: over the weeks a cameo linked to Eric Barone, creator of Stardew Valley, and a secret mode not yet completely clarified by the community, have also emerged. Details that further enrich a title already full of mysteries and secondary content.
For their part, even the boys of Sandfall Interactive seem to have welcomed the reference with pleasure: on social media they published a celebratory illustration that depicts Hornet and Maelle together, protagonist of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
An intersection of tributes that underlines the spirit of collaboration and mutual respect among independent studies, capable of supporting each other also through small but significant gestures.
With Silksong just released and already in the center of continuous discoveries, it is clear that the work of Team Cherry still reserves many surprises.
