The passion of players for Hollow Knight: Silksong has reached surprising levels, to the point that someone has already established world records on a game that has not actually come out yet.
Pending September 4, the date on which the sequel to the famous Metroidvania of Team Cherry will arrive on the shelves, some fans have transformed the demo presented to the Gamescom 2025 into a competitive arena. From here was born one of the most unusual Speeddrun categories ever: time races based on content accessible only to those who physically tried the demo at the German fair.
Bluesr has earned a place in the history of the Speedrun with a performance that will hardly be beaten before the official launch. During his second test session he completed the Deep Docks area in just 2 minutes and 26 seconds, setting what is in all respects a world record in an exclusive category. With great modesty, the player defined the result “quite ok”, considering the limits of the event and the use of a non -usual controller.
Determined not to stop, Bluesr has returned to the demo for a new challenge: complete both areas available at 100%, collecting each collectible object. The result was a second record: 10 minutes and 36 seconds. To make the company even more credible, the player added six extra seconds in the final time after noticing that he has missed a collectible, a gesture that testifies to his sporting integrity.
The case raises interesting questions about the world of Speedrun. Unlike traditional categories, where anyone can buy a game and try to beat records, these primates are destined to remain unbeatable until the official release.
Those who were not at Gamescom with the precise intention of running against time will no longer have the way to compete in these special categories. The situation recalls the races on prototypes or beta, but with a unique detail: limited access in time and space, as if a record was established on a track destroyed immediately after the race.
According to those who tried the demo, Silksong show a level of obsessive care in every aspect, from gameplay to the technical sector, confirming the style that made the famous Team Cherry. In a few days the game will finally be available and the competitive community is ready to unleash: the Bluesr records will remain a historic anomaly, but soon they could only become the appetizer of a season of Speedrun and spectacular Speedrun.
