Silent Hill F (we tried it) is ready to bring back one of the most loved horror sagas ever. The new chapter developed by Konami will arrive on September 25 on PC and PlayStation 5, presenting himself as the first unpublished episode of the series after years of absence.
In addition to the return of the franchise, the game is also proposed as a demonstration of the potential of Unreal Engine 5, exploited here with a technical mastery that surprised analysts.
During the Gamescom 2025, Digital Foundry had the opportunity to test the builds on PC and PS5, confirming surprising performances. Silent Hill F reaches 60 FPS stable on both platforms, even if not native 4K resolution.
The cutscene remain blocked at 30 fps, but the targeted use of motion blur maintains an excellent visual impact and masks the differences in fluidity.
On the side of the gameplay, the title introduces news that recall mechanical mechanics for soulslike fans, such as dodged and the resistance bar. However, the manufacturer Motoi Okamoto clarified that it is not a direct imitation of the FromSoftware games: these dynamics rather represent a return to elements already experienced in the classic chapters of the saga, reinterpreted in a modern key.
One of the most impressive points reported by Digital Foundry concerns the cleaning of the image. Silent Hill F manages to avoid the typical visual artifacts that afflict many titles in Unreal Engine 5, offering clear and detailed scenarios. The merit is also the implementation of Lumen, the dynamic lighting system that contributes to creating dark and disturbing atmospheres, perfect for the iconic universe of Silent Hill.
The arrival of this new chapter represents more than a simple revival, Silent Hill F could become a technical point of reference for the entire industry, showing that the Unreal Engine 5 can guarantee excellent results without sacrificing performance and stability. For Konami it is a crucial restart, which aims to conquer both veterans of the saga as well as the new fans of the horror genre.
