The remake of Silent Hill 2 earned five nominations at The Game Awards 2024, but did not obtain recognition in the most coveted categories: Game of the Year and Best Game Direction.\r\nThe decision has raised several controversies among fans and industry experts, awaiting the final awards, especially considering the presence of the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree expansion in those same categories.\r\nThe Bloober Team’s work on Silent Hill 2 Remake (game you can find on Amazon) has achieved considerable success, collecting nominations in five categories.\r\nI am talking about Best Narrative, Best Score and Music, Best Audio Design, Best Performance (with Luke Roberts recognized for his touching interpretation of James Sunderland) and Best Action /Adventure Game (for successfully modernizing the gameplay of the original).\r\nDespite these weighty nominations, the game’s absence in the Game of the Year and Best Game Direction categories left many observers perplexed (via GameRant).\r\nThe presence of Shadow of the Erdtree in the same categories generated further discontent.\r\nMany believe it inappropriate for additional content, no matter how high-quality, to occupy places intended for complete and original games.\r \nSome argue that the DLC should have found space in categories like Best Ongoing Game, leaving more breathing room for titles like Silent Hill 2.\r\nDespite the controversies, Silent Hill 2 Remake remains a strong candidate to win in some of the categories in which it was nominated, in particular Best Audio Design, where its immersive sound design could make the difference.\r\nThe Game Awards ceremony, scheduled for December 12, will be the opportunity to find out if the remake of one of the greatest survival horror classics will be able to assert itself.\r\nThe discussion, meanwhile, is far from closed, especially also regarding the inclusion of Black Myth Wukong in the GOTY nominations.
