Shenmue III, sales “below expectations”

Embracer, the company that owns Koch Media / Deep Silver, said in its latest financial report that Shenmue III sold “under our expectations”.

That the game, the return of the legendary Dreamcast series signed by the Japanese game designer Yu Suzuki, had not had a particularly flourishing commercial response, it was clear.

In fact, at the beginning of December had placed 18,000 units in Japan, where in theory it should have gone strong, while in the United Kingdom it had obtained a 17th place in the week of the launch.

The new data of Embracer paint one quite bleak scenario: in the Q3 of the company’s fiscal year 2019/2020, Shenmue III was played by just 50,000 people on PS4.

As a consequence of this disappointing performance, and due to the postponement to a date yet to be assigned by Biomutant, the label has had to revise its forecasts downwards p for the revenue of the immediate future.

On PC, due to the controversial partnership with Epic Games Store, it is more difficult to keep track of these numbers, therefore it is not possible to go into detail.

With these figures, the hopes for a new chapter of the saga, despite the optimism of a collateral reality at Ys.net that had participated in the work, seem very few.
