Resident Evil Requiem, the official name of the ninth chapter of the saga, was the great revelation of the Summer Game Fest: Capcom has finally revealed the first official trailer of his new horror, already confirming its release date.
The new chapter will see a new protagonist: it is Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft who has also been one of the playable characters of the saga.
It seems that Capcom was already working on a draft of what would have been the plot of Requiem: some users have in fact noticed that there was already a reference even in Resident Evil 7.
And it is probably not a coincidence, given that the ninth chapter will direct the director of Re7 (of which you find the PS5 edition on Amazon).
As reported by Gamesradar+, in Resident Evil 7 it was in fact possible to discover a letter written by Alyssa Ashcroft, which mentions at least 20 disappeared people and that an investigation is underway to discover connections between these disappearances: you can see it again at the following address.
In the trailer of Resident Evil Requiem we see, on the other hand, Grace deal with the investigations concerning the victims of a mysterious disease, but during the same movie it is also possible to see posters of disappeared people.
It would therefore seem that the new protagonist is investigating the case mentioned by the mother in that letter: it will be very interesting to discover in which other Requiem ways will connect to the rest of the series, given that it would seem to want to offer us a different perspective of Raccoon City.
The hypothesis is that the ninth chapter can represent in all respects the conclusion of the saga that began with Resident Evil 1, however opening the doors to a new cycle.
I remind you that Resident Evil Requiem will be available on February 27, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC (Steam): we will keep you as always updated on our pages as soon as they emerge further details on this ambitious chapter.
