Speaking on the sidelines of the closing of the fiscal quarter, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki explained that Sony expects timings similar to those of PlayStation 4 for the presentation of PS5 .
Totoki specified that “when the right time comes, we will reveal the new product” , anticipating that obviously this moment has not yet come.
“It is very difficult to discuss this in terms of timing”, added the Japanese executive, “we will indicate the direction in a period of time that will be comparable to the past”.
“So”, was his final comment, “we won’t change the time schedule” compared to when the Asian company introduced PS4.
This could be a clue to an event organized for February for the presentation of PlayStation 5, as that of the current-gen console took place in the same month of 2013.
The Japanese platform owner had recently opened the official console page on his website and invited fans to register to stay updated on all the news.
According to analysts, the next-gen console should sell around 6 million units by March 2021, when Sony’s fiscal year will end.
