Few sagas have undergone a fate as troubled as that of Prince of Persia’s remake: the sands of the time, which has now become the symbol par excellence of the projects in eternal development.
The situation closely recalls that of Skull and Bones (which you find on Amazon), with an infinite series of postponements, study changes, complete restarts and gaffes on social media that have made many fans lose hopes.
Yet, in the latest statements of Ubisoft a new promise of imminent release emerges which could finally see the light after five years of waiting.
The genesis of this remake dates back to 2019, when the project was accidentally translated from the Russian Uplay shop. Since then, the game has gone through every possible vicissitudine that a development title can face.
The fans witnessed helplessly to a series of delays that made the release date slip well beyond the initial predictions, while the project passed from hand between different development teams internal to Ubisoft.
During the recent annual general assembly of Ubisoft, the financial director Frederick Duguet provided some details on the investment of Tencent and how these funds will be distributed.
Among the most significant statements, Duguet explained that part of the capital will be used to reactivate iconic brands of the company catalog with targeted investments.
The phrase that captured the attention of all fans was specified: “This concerns the remake of Prince of Persia: the sands of the time, which will be released very soon, or even Splinter Cell later”.
However, the inclusion of both titles in the same declaration raised more questions than certainties, especially considering the apparently comatose state of the project dedicated to Sam Fisher.
The last release window officially communicated for the remake of the sabbies of the time points to the tax year 2026 of Ubisoft, which ends on March 31, 2026.
However, Duguet’s words suggest a possible acceleration, with a launch that could take place during the 2025 Christmas season. A timing that would reduce the wait to a few months, representing a significant change compared to previous forecasts.
Prince of Persia Remake will come out “very soon”
