After weeks of rumors and assumptions, the curtain has finally been raised: the appointment with PlayStation Showcase 2021 is for 9 September at 22:00 Italian time.
After the usual absence at E3 2021, the event is an excellent opportunity to keep an eye on the news coming to PS5 as well as a tasty appetizer in view of Deathloop , expected for September 14.
What will actually be shown is subject to the usual secrecy of great occasions, but according to a leak there could also be room for the highly anticipated God of War Ragnarok .
Trustworthy or not, it is now certain that the title will be cross-gen, and to follow it in this double fate there will be Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7 .
For now we know that the showcase will run 40 minutes and will include further updates after the presentation is over, for which players have been advised to stay tuned.
This time, giving a preview of what PlayStation has in store for the community is David Jaffe , creator of God of War , who specified that for the occasion « great things are planned».
Jaffe’s intervention took place during a streaming and was followed by a tweet where the game designer specified that the announcements of the showcase « will rock » and “ gamers will freak out “.
« I won’t tell you what’s on at the showcase, and I don’t know everything, but I know a couple of things and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for a traditional PlayStation event focused on first-party titles, ”continued Jaffe.
« I can’t wait to see how the audience will react . I myself haven’t seen what I’m talking about yet, but I’m very excited ».
Regarding the previously rumored presence of God of War Ragnarok , Jaffe concluded by stating that « I can’t say if there will be or not because I don’t know anything about this ».
It is understandable that with such advances it is impossible to curb enthusiasm. At this point all that remains is to wait Thursday 9 September to find out the whole truth.
Returning one last time to David Jaffe, it seems that Twisted Metal , one of the IPs he helped create, is set to return in 2023.
The showcase might be the right occasion to take a look at some unannounced games, and if we consider that the budget for PS5 titles is set to increase, it could really be something big.
