PlayStation Plus is now in its tenth year of life: now, Sony has announced the decision to make a substantial price increase in Brazil.
The subscription service guarantees a good number of exclusive features and benefits, as well as a monthly selection of titles that can be redeemed at no additional cost and, of course, access to the online features of the games.
Sony has just emerged defeated in a legal dispute following the (deemed unfair) ban of a user responsible for violating the services of the PlayStation Plus Collection, with a guilty verdict and an obligation to pay compensation.
We remind all subscribers that they can benefit from a real temporary exclusive for the whole month of May: if you are a fan of car titles, you must not miss the opportunity.
The ominous news of a price increase comes like a bolt from the blue, especially at a time when Sony can count on the remarkable sales records recorded by PS5 .
Yet, this is a reality with which it will be necessary to deal (in all senses) for Brazilian players: the increase in subscription is decidedly huge, as also reported on ResetEra.
There is talk of increases from 30% to 34% on the Brazilian market, for which Sony has already provided an explanation:
« They reflect the current market trend and allow us to offer quality service to users ».
Specifically, the increases will take shape as follows:
- The twelve-month subscription to PlayStation Plus will increase from the current 149.90 Brazilian reals to 199.90 (increase of 34% ).
- The three-month plan from 64.90 to 84.90 (increase of 30% ).
- The one-month plan from 25.90 to 34.90 (increase of 33% ).
The price increases mentioned constitute the second price increase of the service in the last two years in Brazil.
Some Brazilian users have pointed out that the rise in prices is also due to « the devaluation of our currency , but in a perfect world, localized increases would not take into account this ».
Others have commented more succinctly, making it clear that « PlayStation Plus now costs too much . I will not renew my subscription ».
We would like to point out that, currently, 1 Brazilian real corresponds to 0.16 euros .

We also remind you that Sony recently announced the PlayStation Plus Video Pass, but there are regional restrictions that may dampen the (initial) enthusiasm of many.
Thanks to the subscription service, it is also possible to redeem three new free games introduced in May, including Battlefield V , to the delight of shooter fans, waiting for an official reveal of Battlefield 6.
