Using a PlayStation 5 Dualsense controller on Nintendo Switch 2 may seem one of those extreme modding oddities, and instead it is simpler than you think.
To tell it is Phil Hayton, who spent the weekend playing Mario Kart World (which you find on Amazon) on the new Nintendo console … with a Sony pad in your hands.
And all this was possible thanks to an adapter born for quite the completely different: the old Mayflash Gamecube Controller Adapter for Wii U.
The initial goal was to verify the compatibility of the old accessory with the new console, and the answer is yes: it works perfectly. But with a small trick you can do even more.
By connecting an 8Bitdo Bluetooth retro receiver for GameCube to Mayflash, the Switch 2 plays any controller connected as if it were a GameCube pad.
Result? Not only can the original cubic controller be used, but also a PS5 Dualsense (or other alternative controllers).
For those who were already getting out: yes, there are adapters such as the Magic-S Pro 2 that allow you to directly connect the Dualsense to the Switch without going through these “acrobatics”.
But there is an important detail: accessories such as Mayflash have a recognized purpose, that is, allowing matches up to eight players on Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
This could guarantee greater stability with the future updates of the console, while other “unofficial” devices may stop working at any time.
The beauty is that, at the moment, there are no input lag problems or keys mapping, at least in games tested such as Zelda: Wind Waker and Mario Kart World.
And compatibility is maintained thanks to the still active firmware updates, despite the fact that the accessory is more than ten years old on the shoulders.
Of course, using a PlayStation controller on a Nintendo console may seem like a provocation, but let’s face it: playing Wind Waker with the aptical feedback from Dualsense has its own charm \
