15 years have now passed since Bayonetta’s debut and PlatinumGames has decided that the anniversary can no longer go unnoticed. The doubt, however, is another: who of the team’s historic faces is still among its ranks and who, instead, left it together with Hideki Kamiya’s farewell a couple of years ago?\r\nThe news comes from official Twitter profile of the Japanese company, which has finally broken the silence of recent months to announce some celebrations dedicated to Bayonetta and its anniversary, inviting fans to keep their eyes open for some potential surprises.\r\nAs we read about social:\r\n\r\n«It’s Bayonetta’s 15th anniversary year!\r\nBayonetta arrived internationally in January 2010, so we want to make 2025 a year of celebration! We have a few things in preparation to celebrate this milestone, so keep your eyes peeled”.\r\n\r\nWhile it is legitimate to wonder if perhaps we will see a welcome return of the beloved protagonist of the saga, VGC rightly wonders how many of Platinum’s historical faces are still involved in the team: Kamiya decided to leave it in September 2023, declaring himself no longer satisfied with the vision of PlatinumGames (difficult to blame him, after cases like Babylon’s Fall), and stated that he was ready to welcome into his new team, Clovers, anyone who in turn no longer felt happy in the company.\r\nWe don’t know who actually followed him, but it is worth noting that, after him, also Kenji Saito (director of Metal Gear Rising), Takahisa Taura (director of Astral Chain) and Masaki Yamanaka (director of Anarchy Reigns) have removed references to PlatinumGames from their profiles. Have they also opted to say goodbye?\r\nWe’ll see if in the future we will be able to understand something more about the new structure of the company, which has long been famous for its highly recognizable action games: an identity that will be maintained even after the farewell of some of its key faces? Maybe we can understand it from how this 15th anniversary of Bayonetta will be celebrated…
