The third installment of the series was supposed to represent the final adventure of Travis Touchdown, but there seems to have been a resounding rethinking by Suda51: contrary to what has been stated in the past, No More Heroes 4 could really come in the end.
In preparation for the release of No More Heroes 3 on the latest generation consoles (you can pre-order it on Amazon), the eccentric author of the franchise has admitted that he always listens very carefully to feedback from fans and that they will decide if Travis will come back.
In an interview with GNN (via VGC ), Suda51 reiterated that the one faced by the protagonist was his last battle, but at the same time he admitted of not being able to predict « what will happen in 10 years » .
If the request from fans should indeed prove to be particularly noisy and difficult to ignore, the author has in fact pointed out that No More Heroes 4 could become reality , despite the plans were to end the saga with the third episode.
Suda51 has in fact given the example of Tom Cruise’s return as Maverick in the new Top Gun film as an example of a successful comeback wanted by the community: will be the fans to determine whether the franchise may or may not return.
For the moment, the Travis Touchdown saga seems to have ended, but not definitively: Suda51 has left a sizable door open for his return.
Fans can therefore begin to make themselves heard, cross their fingers and hope that their request is able to make enough “noise” : after all, it would not be the only South51 franchise able to carry out a sensational return.
The remake of Lollipop Chainsaw has indeed been confirmed for 2023, however there is bad news for fans of the original: neither Suda51 nor director James Gunn were involved.
Speaking of which, the author of No More Heroes has already admitted that he would like Gunn to direct a potential film in the saga, while the lead actor would be a real star.
