The director of Baldur’s Gate 3, Swen Vincke, revealed that Larian Studios is working on various new features, although no full DLC is planned for the popular role-playing game.\r\nThe announcement was made in a tweet in which Vincke celebrated the nomination of the game (of which you can find the official guide on Amazon) for best community support at The Game Awards.\r\nBaldur’s Gate 3, launched last year, achieved enormous critical and public success (here is my review). \r\nAccording to reports, the game has generated profits of $260 million in 2023 for Larian Studios.\r\nDespite this success, the studio is not working on a sequel or traditional DLC, but is focusing on ambitious new projects .\r\nVincke highlighted the difficulty of «continuing to provide content for something that is already on the market, while the entire studio is buzzing with all the exciting new things.”\r\nThis suggests that Larian is balancing post-launch support for Baldur’s Gate 3 with the development of new titles (two, from what we know).\r\nHowever, fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 can expect more new content. A major update is planned for next year that will introduce 12 new subclasses, one for each existing class.\r\nThe update will also include new abilities, animations, visual effects, summons and minor spells, as well as unique voice dialogue for the Knight Perjury.\r\nTo support its ambitious future plans, Larian has opened a seventh studio in Warsaw. This could indicate a significant expansion of the company’s development capabilities.\r\nWhile Larian focuses on new projects, Dungeons & Dragons owner Hasbro said it is in talks with several partners for a possible Baldur’s Gate 4. \r\nThe company has expressed the hope that another 25 years will not pass before fans will be able to play a new chapter in the series.\r\nWhile waiting for further details on the new Larian projects, players can continue to enjoy Baldur’s Gate 3 and its upcoming free patches, which promise to further enrich the gaming experience.
