For years, the GameStop video game chain has been openly in crisis on a global level, and the situation described by some employees in recent hours only confirms the trend of the chain.\r\nAs reported by Techraptor, in fact, many ex-employees have said on their public profiles that they saw the stores they worked in close forever.\r\nOn the GameStop subreddit, numerous employees are declaring that their stores are closing. Among the most recent posts are several reports, although the stores involved are not specified.\r\nThe full scale of the closures remains uncertain, and some posts may come from employees of the same store. However, the number of reports suggests that the situation is quite large.\r\nIn the September SEC report, management hinted at an ongoing review that could lead to more store closures than in previous years. This follows the closure of 287 stores during the last fiscal year, announced in March, in line with hundreds of other closures in previous years.\r\nIt is nothing new that the chain has had to review its aims, including looking back at what happened with the disaster of the NFT store on which GameStop was betting a lot in a certain recent period also to counteract the dominance of Amazon, among many.\r\nGameStop’s most recent financial results show a decline in net sales, which went from $1.078 billion in the third quarter of last year to $860 million in the same period this year. However, net profit for the quarter was $17.5 million, compared to a loss of $3.1 million in the same period last year.\r\nGameStop’s fate is shared by many other video game chains in the world that are slowly disappearing. The physical format is undoubtedly less predominant than it once was, even if the chain itself has tried to defend them several times.
