Elden Ring is a cult video game and there is little doubt about this, but nevertheless there are some things that Hidetaka Miyazaki himself would undoubtedly improve: among these are the swamps.\r\nSince Demon’s Souls (you can find it on PS5 via Amazon) there is always at least one area with a poisonous swamp.\r\nA recurring and infamous feature for the community of soulslike fans, appearing up until Bloodborne and obviously Elden Ring where there are even more than one. There are poisonous, toxic swamps, and a giant swampy area covered in scarlet rot.\r\nWill there be any in Shadow of the Erdtree, the DLC arriving in a few hours to the delight of fans? Obviously yes, but in creating him director Hidetaka Miyazaki found himself reflecting on the mistakes made in the past. Perhaps this is also why it has become the best DLC ever.\r\nIn a recent interview, in fact, Miyazaki spoke about the swamp that will be in Shadow of the Erdtree, also recalling his previous works:\r\n\r\ n«As for the poisonous swamp, I think I exaggerated in the original Elden Ring. So I’m trying to learn some lessons from it. And it can be said that the existing version in the DLC, which I have already confirmed, applies many of these teachings.”\r\n\r\nThe swamp will therefore always be dangerous, because otherwise it would not be a soulslike, but From Software has probably found the way to make this iconic area less frustrating.\r\n«I try to imagine different ways in which I want to die as a player or be killed», explains Miyazaki delving into the creation of the DLC’s swamp:\r\n\r\n« Not in the poisonous swamp itself – which has been curbed – but in other parts of the gameplay, there are many ways to die.”\r\n\r\nIn short, don’t expect Shadow of the Erdtree to be simple content anyway.\ r\nFurthermore, Elden Ring has been updated in recent hours by adding important features: catch up on them here.
