Artificial intelligence is certainly the topic of the moment and of the future, into which Microsoft wants to jump with a record investment.
The company behind Xbox, whose consoles you can buy on Amazon, is as always at the forefront of the world of technology.
In a period where, on the gaming side, it is fighting hard against the Federal Trade Commission for the now famous and infamous acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
And if artificial intelligence is also a much debated topic as well as in vogue, Microsoft has the serious will to invest in it.
As Windows Central reports, in fact, Microsoft could invest $10 billion in OpenAI, one of the leading companies in the artificial intelligence sector at the moment.
The news comes following another revelation that the tech giant would like to incorporate ChatGPT (the very popular chatbot) and AI within the Office and Bing suites.
At the moment it is not clear whether the deal has been finalized or not, but multiple sources report Microsoft’s willingness to invest in the sector.
With the possible maneuver, Microsoft would get 75% of OpenAI’s profits until Microsoft has returned its investment. After that, the Redmond giant would change its stake to 49% of OpenAI.
While Microsoft and OpenAI have not wanted to comment on the agreement at the moment, it is not equally clear if and how this investment could also be related to future activities in the Xbox field.
Obviously it will be to some extent, because AI is a trend that will become increasingly widespread as demonstrated by the investments of the competition.
On the other hand, already years ago Microsoft had shown interest in the issue, but in a completely different area than that relating to OpenAI.
Meanwhile, in the digital but not “intelligent” world, Xbox Game Pass has unveiled the new free games of 2023 and they’re really not bad.
