There are games that can leave an indelible mark both in the market and in the hearts of gamers and the first Max Payne is certainly among them .
Developed by Remedy Entertainment (also authors of the acclaimed Control ) and published by Gathering of Developers, the game was born in 2001 and quickly became a timeless cult.
Among the peculiarities of Max’s adventure, a dark and noir plot, as well as a game system that relied on the then futuristic Bullet Time , that is the possibility of slowing down time in perfect Matrix style, performing spectacular shootings in the meantime.
For years, fans have been clamoring for a sequel that replicates in all respects the charm of the original chapter, which unfortunately did not happen with Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne nor with the subsequent Max Payne 3 .
Now, though, someone may have found a way to fill the void: that’s the case with El Paso, Elsewhere , a game coming from Strange Scaffold, the creator of An Airport For Aliens Currently Run By Dogs and Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator .
El Paso , as you can understand from the trailer you find below (via Polygon ), is a real letter d love to Max Payne , complete with slow motion sequences and shootings that look like something out of the classic 20 years ago.
The game takes place in a mysterious motel, whose floors (46) are suddenly populated by monstrous creatures such as vampires and werewolves.
Fortunately, the protagonist is armed with “holy” Molotov cocktails and other tools to fight the undead that haunt the building.
El Paso, Elsewhere seems to have stepped out of the 32-bit era of the first PlayStation, thus presenting itself as a real all in the past. The game is expected to be released in 2022.
