Nintendo fans most attentive to the audio goodies did not miss the last return of one of the most iconic Easter Eggs in videogame history.
Totaka’s Song, the short tune hidden in dozens of games of the great N, was also discovered in Mario Kart World, the launch title for Nintendo Switch 2 (which you also find on Amazon).
The melody, made up of Kazumi Totaka in 1992 for Mario Paint, has become a recurring secret in the games in which the composer worked – from The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening to Animal Crossing, passing through Luigi’s Mansion and beyond.
Totaka is also the official voice of Yoshi and Biodo, a detail that makes the discovery in Mario Kart World even more special.
How to listen to it? It’s very simple: just select Yoshi in the characters’ screen and wait a few seconds without doing anything. The famous dinosaur will begin to hum that melody, hidden in full view as often happens with this Easter Egg.
The fact that Yoshi himself is carrying out this tradition is particularly significant, given the long link between the character and the composer. Totaka has in fact worked on many of the games dedicated to the green character, including the relatively recent Yoshi’s Crafted World.
Discoveries like this still manage to create a bridge between generations of players, keeping a small, nostalgic magic alive. Totaka’s Song is not just a motivate: it is an affectionate signature that Nintendo has been inserting in his games for over thirty years, and which, every time it is found, still manages to make smile.

But not only that: Mario Kart World’s players discovered a particular method to quickly unlock all the karts and bikes available in the game: read what I’m talking about.
